The Natural Beauty of 7400 Tunnel Creek Road

May 31, 2024

Located 30 minutes away from Reno and an hour from South Lake Tahoe, 7400 Tunnel Creek Road is one of the most unique properties in Northern Nevada. Many say that it is very much like a Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired home. Nestled in a copse of trees, it’s truly remarkable.

“My favorite feature of the home,” says Bryan Drakulich, listing agent of the property, “is how the architect enhanced the location of the home with this fantastic view of Slide Mountain. He did a phenomenal job making the deck an extension of the living room, making the forest become one with the house. How the architect built it makes it feel like it’s one with the land.”

The property, both inside and out, is landscaped to work with its surrounding land. The result is incredible as the house blends into its natural surroundings. Outside, landscaped walkways are made from Nevada quartzite. A private creek flows through the property complete with a waterfall and pond. Inside, nature makes its presence known too. Zebra wooden cabinets in the library and the great room, custom cabinetry made with alder wood and burl wood accents in the kitchen, custom hickory hardwood floors inlaid with quartzite stone, and custom beechwood ceilings all add to its natural feel. Floor-to-ceiling glass windows add to the effect.

But it’s not just about nature – for as beautiful and relaxing as nature might be, the home also has many bells and modern whistles:  a 1,100-bottle capacity climate-controlled wine room, with an adjoining wet bar, a media room, exercise room, and game room featuring an access point to an outdoor patio and bocce ball court. Oh, and there’s a golf room with its own putting green.

What would it be like to live in this home?

“It would be a dream,” says Drakulich. “Waking up in the trees would automatically energize me for the day. I wouldn’t have to leave my house because I have a gym downstairs for a daily workout. Then, I would take care of business in my home office. Later, I would have friends over and choose a bottle of wine to open from the climate-controlled wine room. We would then sit outside on the gorgeous deck surrounded by fireplace and fire pit with a perfect place to take in the view of the mountains and trees.”
