CHRISTMAS ILLUMINATIONS

Mount Vernon kicks off the season with their annual Christmas Illuminations
event. Hear season’s greetings by General Washington on the Mansion Piazza and watch stunning holiday fireworks over the Potomac River. The program begins at approximately 8 – 8:30 p.m.
Prior to the fireworks display, the mansion will be open for tours. And visitors can enjoy the atmospheric setting of an 18th- century winter encampment, the working Blacksmith Shop, Christmas carolers, and Aladdin the Camel.

The NSO presents fresh takes on comforting classics and sing-along favorites performing in the festively decorated Concert Hall. This year,
they welcome Tony Award®–winning actress and singer Laura Benanti, whose remarkable talents have inspired audiences across Broadway stages and television screens.
In 2008, Benanti earned the Tony® Award for Outstanding Featured Actress in a Musical for her portrayal of Louise in Gypsy opposite Patti LuPone. In 2019, she made a triumphant return to Broadway
as Eliza Doolittle in Lincoln Center’s acclaimed production of My Fair Lady.
In 2020, she released a self-titled album for Sony Music Masterworks featuring a mix of classic and contemporary covers. Recently, Benanti can be seen in HBO Max’s Gossip Girl reboot and Netflix’s tick, tick…BOOM!
