Melissa Sanabria, principal and founder of Sanabria & Co., a full-service interior design studio based on Capitol Hill, recently opened a home decor and furnishings storefront in the same neighborhood at 409 East Capitol Street SE, Washington, DC. Sanabria & Co. The Shop offers everything from beeswax candles, throw pillows, local honey, and home fragrances, as well as one-of-a-kind vintage rugs.

Sanabria is known for seamlessly blending old with new and designing spaces that are truly family-friendly while honoring a home’s architecture. She selected many of the stores’ brands as “Partners with Purpose” — each being a small business that represents an important cause including eco-friendly and cruelty-free items, naturally-sourced products, women-owned companies, and those with strong charitable components. Such brands include Apotheke, Cultiver, Heddle & Lamm, Jaipur Living, Freres Branchiaux, Fair + Simple, Passerine, Poppy & Pout, Sunday Candle Co., Second Story Honey, and Jungle & Loom.

“We’ve all been doing so much online shopping,” says Sanabria, “that I wanted to create a place where people can experience the merchandise, connect, and get inspired.”

Hours for Sanabria & Co. The Shop are Thursdays from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.; and Sundays from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. For more information, visit www.sanabriaandco.com.
