Stylist | Summer 2026

September 1, 2026

Several major fashion houses used tomato‑red and similar bold red hues on their spring/summer 2026 runways, helping to establish it as one of the season’s defining colors. Designers at Valentino featured the hue by combining it with the other key color trend of the season – cobalt blue. Carolina Herrera embraced red tones, giving their looks a classic yet modern presence on the runway, while Balenciaga also reinforced the widespread runway interest in statement red shades. These uses helped cement tomato red as a standout summer color trend.

Here are some tips for incorporating this shade into your summer wardrobe…

Start Small – If you’re unsure about bold red, add it through accessories like handbags, belts, shoes, or sunglasses. A clutch or sandals can instantly energize a neutral outfit.

Statement Pieces – For a bolder approach, pick one tomato‑red piece per outfit, such as a dress, blazer, or jumpsuit. Pair it with neutral tones like beige, white, navy, or soft denim to let the color pop without overwhelming your look.

Color Pairing:

Tomato red works beautifully with complementary or contrasting hues:

Cobalt blue for a vibrant, runway‑inspired look.

Soft neutrals like cream, taupe, or light gray for elegance.

Warm metallics like gold or bronze in shoes or jewelry for a sophisticated glow.

Tomato red is attention-grabbing, so wear it in a way that feels natural to your style. Bold lips, nails, or subtle red prints can echo the color without making it the entire focus.
