In this issue, I will be speaking about my journey with Fortnite. It has been quite the ride.
Fortnite is a third-person computer survival game. The player is dropped onto a huge island with up to 100 other players, and it’s a showdown to see who’s the last one standing. It’s called a battle royale, and it can get intense.
You can play by yourself if you’re feeling brave, you can team up with a friend, in what’s called duos, or you can play with a squad of friends consisting of three or four players. Personally, I love teaming up with my friends—it’s more fun that way.
You don’t just start with all the cool gear though. You need to drop in from a flying “Battle Bus” and scavenge for weapons and other things as you go. It’s like a mad dash to gear up and survive!
That’s Fortnite in a nutshell. It’s this wild, adrenaline-pumping game where you must fight to be the last one standing. And let me tell you, once you start playing, it’s hard to stop…
Fortnite first started in 2017 with what is called Chapter 1, Season 1. I first dipped my toes into Fortnite in Chapter 1, Season 6 or 7, but it didn’t really click with me. I only played on my grandparents’ iPad, and it was more of a passing interest than a serious hobby.
Fast forward to late 2019, Chapter 2 Season 1 rolled around, and something just clicked. Suddenly, I found myself diving deep into the game, and when Chapter 2 Season 2 dropped, that’s when I truly fell in love with Fortnite.
Over the years and the games seasons, I have loved playing the game. While the seasons may have changed, one thing has remained constant. I enjoy playing with my friends. Whether from childhood or classmates, Fortnite kept us connected, especially during the tough times of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Now that I’m old enough to do so, I’ve started dabbling in Fortnite tournaments. I might not win, but it’s all about the thrill of the game and the chance to bond with friends.
Fortnite isn’t just a game for me—it’s a source of fun, friendship, and unforgettable memories. And no matter what challenges come our way, I’ll always come back to it with a smile on my face, ready for another adventure.
